Why You Should Join The HPE OEM Solutions Program: Interview With Velocix

We sat down with Jim Brickmeier, Chief Product and Marketing Officer at Velocix, to talk about his experience getting started with the HPE OEM Solutions program. Read on to find out how Velocix and HPE OEM Solutions work on delivering solutions together, and his advice to anyone thinking of partnering with us.
Jim, what is your role at Velocix?
I am responsible for defining Velocix’s product and business strategy, managing the product delivery process, and connecting our company with the markets we serve.
Tell us about Velocix and what the company does.
Velocix is the world’s leading provider of carrier-grade video streaming and advertising technology. We develop video solutions tailored to the needs of large-scale video service operators, including telecommunications and cable operators, internet service providers, broadcasters, and over-the-top (OTT) streaming companies. Our solutions are designed for reliability, flexibility, and scaling efficiency, while also delivering the advanced monetization features needed to unlock more value from every video stream delivered.
Why did you need to partner with a larger technology solution provider?
Velocix technology is known for its reliability and fault-free performance under all conditions. Our software needed to run on hardware platforms that could support the “carrier-grade” commitment we make to our customers. That means hardware that delivers the best performance, runs without fault, is easy to maintain, and features resilient system designs.
Why did you choose HPE OEM Solutions?
HPE OEM Solutions was the right choice for us because they are an ideal fit for our customer base. Our customers know and trust that HPE solutions will support their needs. We also have a strong and collaborative relationship with the HPE OEM Solutions team, who works as an extension of our own team when it comes to specifying new hardware that will be suitable for our application.
What was it like getting started with the HPE OEM Solutions program?
The process was smooth and seamless. HPE’s account management team helped us each step of the way to ensure we were well supported.
What are you working on with HPE OEM Solutions?
HPE OEM Solutions has worked with us to support large equipment orders for some of the world’s leading telecommunications companies and meet tight delivery timeframes. We sometimes ship hundreds of servers at a time and deliver to a multitude of different locations. HPE OEM Solutions handles all the logistics and gets the servers in the right place so we can keep deployment schedules on track.
How do you feel being part of the partner program is adding value for Velocix and its customers?
HPE OEM Solutions has been a great partner for Velocix given their global scale and ability to be responsive to our needs. We often require fast turnaround times to keep our customers’ projects on schedule and HPE can usually find a way to help us out. We also like that HPE OEM Solutions is active in a variety of market areas where we have new solutions being designed and deployed, including in 5G and cloud infrastructure. We find HPE OEM Solutions can help us connect with other tech partners and can get us engaged in new forums we wouldn’t otherwise have had access to.
What have you learned so far from working with HPE OEM Solutions?
We have learned that HPE OEM Solutions can do more for us if we want them to. There always seems to be some new way in which HPE OEM Solutions can help us grow our business, whether it is working with us on marketing activities, helping us connect to other tech partners, or working through a specific technology challenge.
What is your favourite thing about working with HPE OEM Solutions?
We really enjoy the collaborative working relationship with the HPE OEM Solutions team. They really go the extra mile to make sure we feel supported.
What does the future look like for Velocix and HPE OEM Solutions?
We will be working with HPE OEM on solutions for 5G deployment environments. We are also investigating ways to further amplify the performance density of our streaming solutions, so we can deliver more capacity while consuming less power.
And finally, what would be your advice for prospective members of the HPE OEM Solutions Partner Program?
It’s a great program. If it fits your needs, go for it. You won’t be disappointed in the results.
