SolutionYou can install 11.0 on to a 2GB drive but only if you have less than 300Mb of RAM (for primary swap to be the same size).
But, after you load the patch bundles (HWE and QPK and OnlineDiags and even a few apps like MirrorUX etc.) you will be 80-90% full on /usr, /opt and /var so I wouldnt recommend installing on a 2GB drive. You really need a 4GB drive nowadays, of if you have a few Gig of RAM you need a 9GB drive.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Re: 11.0 install on 2GB disk
Hi Michael,
yes, you can install HP-UX 11.00 on a 2 GB disk without problems. Please remember that you need enough swap space, normally RAM*2 and i allways install /stand bigger than suggested with standard installation. I give 150 MB space for it. All other volumes can be extended later.
Allways stay on the bright side of life!

Re: 11.0 install on 2GB disk
Using a disk that small on 11.00 really isn't a good idea, and can lead to some serious problems with the ability to reliably update it later. If you are determined to try, I would strongly suggest using the 'whole disk' method instead of individual partitions for /usr, /var, etc. That way you are less likely to get into a situation where one partition has plenty of free space while another does not have enough.
Note that you can easily need several hundred MB of 'extra' free space temporarily when doing OS upgrades, etc. That space is freed on the next reboot, but if you don't have it available at the time of the upgrade your system can be left in a very unpleasant state that's quite painful to recover from.
As for whether it will fit, this really depends on what applications you are running, how much space they need, and how careful you were to not install products/filesets that you don't need on your particular system. (For example, you might not need a lot of locales.)
I would certainly not recommend trying to use a 2 GB disk for anyting resembling a 'production' system. If you just want to play with a system you can probably get it to more or less run on a 2 GB disk.
With disk prices dropping so fast, I'd
certainly ask the question whether it would be wiser to get a bigger disk before trying 11.00.
Unless your budget is impossibly tight, that would really be the wise thing to do, and would probably save you many hours of frustration later.
