11.00 to 11i upgrade

Durring a upgrade from 11.00 to 11i I had to work with support and we removed AudioDevKit, CDEDevKit, OVOPC-AGT, PHSS_20446, SUPPORT-TOOLS, and X11MotifDevKit as after the upgrade on the first reboot configuration of unconfigured software failed. I am trying to find in the documentation how I should have known to remove those products? Anyone have any ideas? We have many more systems to upgrade and can't do cold installs.

We have upgraded a few machines fom 11.0 to 11.i and the only thing we had to unintstall was X25 software that was already on the host. After the upgrade we then re-install X25 and everything is good. We have upgraded several diffrent classes of servers. We have not had to remove any of these packages.

When you get this one correctly configured, use Ignite (make_tape_recovery or make_net_recovery) to make a golden image. Use this golden image to clone the other systems by interrupting the recovery and changing the nodename and IP address.

This is much easier than doing a cold install each time.

Thanks - I would love to do that but we can't do cold installs on most of our systems.
