model

I have a K460. I have noticed that I can not get the model number by using the model or uname commands. When I type model I get "9000/889". Anyone ever seen this before?

Re: model

Hi Jody:

If I recall correctly, in situations like this, you need to log a hardware call. An HP engineer will need to run a tool called 'ssconfig' (if my memory is correct) to correctly set the model string.

Re: model

We had a similar problem when we upgraded k570 --> k580, The engineer had to come back..

do as JRF suggests

Re: model

You should get (for K460) ..
# model
9000/889/K460
or
9000/800/K460
The latter is for newer PA 2.0 binaries I think. If you do not see either one, you might want to call HP. I think they will recompile the binaries for you the get the correct output.

Re: model

James's memory is correct. You need an HP engineer to run ssconfig from a support CD to set your model string correctly (he will need to reboot your server off the support CD to do it).

Re: model

JRF has given you the answer. This data is entered in 'stable storage' by your local HP Mr. Goodwrench. Make sure that he uses an uppercase 'K' 'K460' rather than 'k460' otherwise you will only be able to load the 32-bit versions of 11.x.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
