11.23 U ia64 mirror root

Hello:

I think I confused myself, coming from a 11.0 background I went to mirror up
a 11.23 U ia64 did some looking and it seems procedures are now quite different or there are some various in responses, can someone direct me the correct way with
this version 11.23 IA??
I started out by the old way with the pvcreate –B
and a mkboot
but now after re-reading some items I think there is a newer way.

thanks
scott

Re: 11.23 U ia64 mirror root

Hi Scott:

Mirroring on Itanium differs slightly from PA-RISC. See Appendix-A of this document:

Re: 11.23 U ia64 mirror root

Ok another question...

is the 500MB and 400MB guide lines or
Use the actual sizes, I guess I am not sure
where this comes from, since 11.ver3 does bring me to a new level.
thanks

Re: 11.23 U ia64 mirror root

EFI 500MB -> This is required for EFI so on this EFI utilities will be loaded and this is minimum requirement.
HPUX 100% -> Rest of the disk will be used for OS.
HPSP 400MB -> This is optional service partition.

So actually HPUX will be loaded on the second partition cxtydzs2

don't touch s1 and s3

Re: 11.23 U ia64 mirror root

This doc is made for 11.31, but it is showing the disk layout for an Integrity server (same for 11.23):

Hope this helps!

Re: 11.23 U ia64 mirror root

Well, maybe I am still trying to understand HP ver2,

I am getting a error when I do the idisk -f

If you continue you may destroy all data on this disk.
Do you wish to continue(yes/no)? y

AM I still not doing something correct?

Re: 11.23 U ia64 mirror root

You should have both disks recorded in the bootconf file.

man bootconf

Hope this helps!
