I'm confused about the difference between these q.packs:
GOLDAPPS11i
GOLDBASE11i
GOLDQPK11i
Does the last one (Quality Pack) contains the other two (base and apps)? Does everytime HP comes with GOLDAPPS11i and GOLDBASE11i, do the immediately release the quality-pack ?
I have another question (related to patches): We plan to install Oracle Application Server 10g and one of the pre-req's is to have:
"Dec 2001 Consolidate Patches (Dec01GQPK11i_Aux_Patch B.03.02.06) or higher"
Does that means the latest Quality Pack? I would undestand if it said: "You should have Dec,01 GQPK or later" Why the "Aux_Patch" thing?
thanks in advance,
Jorge

Re: 2 questions about Quality Packs
A lazy reply
Everything you need to know or wanted to ask about patches can be found here (including quality packs)

SolutionGOLDAPPS11i and GOLDBASE11i are part of GOLDQPK11i. In addition there is HWEnable11i.
GOLDAPPS11i basically covers patches related to non-OS related products such as compilers etc.,. Base11i is for the OS default filesets. Enable11i is for hardware enablement.
I believe HP devided them into bundles to give flexibility to the customers in selecting the required patches.
The following document is on patch management and gives a lot of information.
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/5990-6753/5990-6753.html
Regarding the last question, I think you would need to install atleast December 2001 GOLD QPK bundles.

Re: 2 questions about Quality Packs
GOLDAPPS=applications
GOLDBASE=core
The latest software bundles as I've described above will do the trick, this based on any bundle after Dec2001. I would load something much later than that in case. Make sure that take not of any other oracle based requirements, kernel, missing links in /usr etc.

Re: 2 questions about Quality Packs
One more thing: I just want to have this clear. I was reading the hp-ux patching duide. There it says that "Quality Pack" is a "bundle name".
Ok, so if the QPK is a bundle and it contains GOLDBASE and GOLDAPPS...then what are these last two called?
Is it okay to say "I'll download the bundle GOLDBASE"? Or should it be sub-bundle? Or "product"?
Thanks,
Jorge

Re: 2 questions about Quality Packs
GOLDQPK11i is a Patch Bundle which consists of patches GOLDAPPS11i and GOLDBASE11i.However you can't call it neither a product nor a subbundle.
GOLDAPPS11i is Patch which is to be loaded for Application patching.
GOLDBASE11i is patch which is to be loaded for core OS patching.
So you can say this way,
GOLDQPK11i is patch Bundle
GOLDAPPS11i and GOLDBASE11i are patches in this Bundle.
I beleive it is clear now
