I've a big question for you! ;-)
I recently bought an HP B2000 workstation...200Euro for 1GB ram, fx4pro video e 9Gb disk...everything is ok but I'd like to install a second Network adapter...
I found an old nic at home, it's a 3Com
10b79805 ethernet 3c59x 3c980-TX 10/100baseTX NIC [Python-T]
But hpux 11.11 doesn't recognize it.
I suppose I need the correct drivers but...where can I find them? Does they exist?
Thanks in advance
Emanuele

Re: 3COM Network adapter on B2000 with HPUX 11.11
It might be the card of some old PC. Which will not be supported here because you will not get drivers for it. For all supported network cards you have network drivers in application CD's that come along with OS. Just see any of application CD root and you will find a text file containing the contents of all the CD's.

Re: 3COM Network adapter on B2000 with HPUX 11.11
I'd like to put a "typical" NIC from the adapters I used on normal PC...
Isn't it possible?
Thanks again.

Re: 3COM Network adapter on B2000 with HPUX 11.11
Yes, Not sure about this particular card but every card which is used in PCs can not be used in workstations. You can select from Robert's link hardware supported on your B Class workstations. But it is also advised to have one from HP as to configure and making others functional on HP's RISC hardware one will have tough time.

Re: 3COM Network adapter on B2000 with HPUX 11.11
The really question I'd like to know was "does standard NIC (used in pc) work on HPUX workstation?"
And you all answered my question!
So, thanks to everybody..now I'll be looking for an HP NIC....sob sob...how much will I pay...

Re: 3COM Network adapter on B2000 with HPUX 11.11
Cost depends on the vendor from where you can get it. It is also different in different parts of the globe. So as Bill stated you try some similar vendors near about you.
Moreover, if your query is resolved assign points and close the thread.

Re: 3COM Network adapter on B2000 with HPUX 11.11
HP cards will be claimed by drivers in other OSes - for example, Linux drivers will (generally) quite happily claim a card with an HP subvendor ID.
The devresource/dspp site should have a reference driver one could leverage if they were inspired to write a driver. I'm not sure if it was based on Tulip (Digitial 2114X) or "e100" (Intel) NICs.
