700 2 user licence upgrade

What needs doing to lift the user count on a 715/80 UX 10.20 please?

I beleive that the unlimited user license is available for 10.20. Try this url or do a search on software.hp.com

You've got about 2 weeks until 10.20 is completely obsolete. Patches (other than security) have not been created since Dec 2001. In other words, 10.20 is a dead end so getting things like user licenses or replacement media from HP has ended. I don't think that 10.20 user licenses (other than 2) were free. Licensing policies changed for 11.xx. Note that 11.0 is also pretty old--Nov 1997.

I think that for 10.20 you need a software key to enable the user license upgrade. For 11 this is not required. I had the same issue a few months ago. I will be upgrading to 11.11 during the summer shutdown.

jp, the link in the first reply brings you to a reg page- after filling that one you can download a .depot that contains the unlimited license- for free.

...and for a good old 715/80 I??d stick to 10.20, too (: Who runs WinXP on a 386?)

User license upgrades are available on your 10.2 Application CD's. You may need a codeword to unlock it.
The 8-user license might be free to use but I couldn't swear to it.
HP-UX 11.0 and up have the Unlimited User License and you can install it without a codeword.

If I recall correctly, under 10.20, a license was needed for the LAN, the console, and any direct connect devices (MUX, MODEM, etc).

Basically, a 2-user license enabled you to have the console on and as many networked users as you wanted. It was actually a bit of a security as we could keep people off the modem by simply having a network connection and the console active.
