817 conversion

I have previoiusly asked about an old 817 that I have and was advised that it really wasn't much good since it has the HP-Ux filesystem. I was wondering if I could load it with the likes of Linux or Solaris. Thoughts? If it would work what changes would I need to make?

Re: 817 conversion

How could anything be no good if it has hpux on it!!??!! Everything is good that has hpux on it. =) Find out what version of hpux you can load on it. It might be of some use yet.

Re: 817 conversion

The 9000/817 system will run up to and including HP-UX 11.00, but NOT 11.11 (a.k.a. 11i) and beyond.

Re: 817 conversion

Solaris definitely will NOT run on the 817.

There is a group that is working on a port of Linux for teh PA-RISC architecture, but I don't think the 817 is supported.
