Re: 9000 d class server low response
Do you see any bottlenecks-cpu, disk, swap,
memory?
With following commands, check which processes are using most of the cpu and memory
UNIX95= ps -ef -o pcpu,pid,ppid,ruser,args | sort -nk1
UNIX95= ps -ef -o vsz,pid,ppid,ruser,args | sort -nk1

Re: 9000 d class server low response
a) File system space usage: bdf
b) System Resource Usage:
i) vmstat
ii) top
iii) UNIX95=1 ps -ef -o pid,cpu,pcpu,sz,vsz,comm
c) What is the hostname resolvation setting in /etc/nsswitch.conf file hosts: entry. Try to tune /etc/hosts and /etc/resolv.conf to get better response to resolvation.

Re: 9000 d class server low response
It could be the file system filling up or full.
Check all sizes with #bdf and also check the syslog.log file for entries.
Has the system just started running slower than normal?

Re: 9000 d class server low response
Its a pretty old system, got two of them in my office here.
I'd try and collect data to find the actual problem.
http://www.hpux.ws/system.perf.sh
I would also ask if you have done anything lately to the system that coincides with the slowness. Upgrade, patch, networking environment change.

Re: 9000 d class server low response
Was any kernel parameter change or patching done on the box recently or any changes on the application side you are not aware off,also these are pretty old machines.
Looks like you have assigned points only to 2 out of the 22 responses,people are spending their valuable time helping you.
