A4308B EISA LAN on a D-class

Hi All,
I have a hopefully quick question. I'm building 2 D-class servers with HP-UX 10.2 and A4308B EISA LAN cards. (It's what I was given and how management wants it configured.)
Can anyone tell me where I can get the neccessary drivers for this card on a 800 series system?
Or if this card is not compatable with D-class, let me know.
Thanks for the assist,
Kel

The drivers should be on your application CDs.

Keep in mind that if you ever want to upgrade to 64 bit HP-UX 11.X you will NOT be able to with EISA cards in that box. There are NO EISA drivers for HP-UX 11.X 64-bit.

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, I don't have the applications CD for 10.2 800 series.
Could this be downloaded off HP's software depot and do you know where if so?
Points to follow.
Thanks,
Kel

Re: A4308B EISA LAN on a D-class

to my knowledge this card is supported in the D-series systems, but is obsolete, and as you have been informed will have no drivers for 64bit verions of HP-UX.
The software is normally on the applications CD set that you get as part of your contract. If you do not have them, you could call HP and request this, else take John up on his offer.

Small tip, ensure you patch the driver, apply latest patches for networking and this card.

Thanks all,
One of my fellow yokles, I mean co-workers was hoarding the Series 800 App. CD.
He's been found and flogged and I should now be able to complete my project. ;)

Re: A4308B EISA LAN on a D-class

Keep in mind that as with the HP-PB 100BT card, the EISA 100BT cards are at best "connectivity" solutions and not performance solutions. You will _NOT_ be able to achieve link-rate with those cards, no matter what sort of D Class you have.

If performance (and CPU utilization) are a concern for your application, you should use HSC 100BT cards. There are HSC 100BT cards in an "EISA" form-factor that would work in most of the D Class systems.

Of course, using even an A400 or now an rp2430 would probably run rings around the D wrt networked performance, and you could use the core 100BT and then one add-on PCI 100BT card... :)

However, you wouldn't be able to run 10.20. The smallest box with the most oomph under 10.20 would probably be a J5600.
