A500 install, 32 bin install only

Hi installing from ACE Dec 2000, an A500 refuses to install 64 bit version 11.00.
(ie option not available on install)

going ahead with the 32bit, on reboot/kernel load from ISL, hpux aborts with error:

Can't load 32 bit kernel on this system (or something like that)

What can I do from here?
(Have replaced disks from an identical A500 and it booted on 64 bit)
getconf shows 64 and 64 bit capable..

Hi Bill:

The only time I have seen problems like this
occur when the Model string was incorrectly entered in Stable Storage. It's typically something like 'a500' when 'A500' is expected.

What is the firmware level? Not that I have had any problems, but my A500 is newer (maybe 5 months old).

My A500 is running 41.17, and the hardware model is 5d5, and I'm running 11i.

Installation of 64-bit HP-UX on the servers A400, A500, L1000, and L2000 is not possible without changes to a system configuration file. JAGab67736; SR 8606102201
