about disk backup

my workstation :
1.only one disk
2.oracle 9i
Now:
1.can this disk boot as root disk on other similar station
2.can i copy the whole disk to another disk?
then boot from the 2nd disk?and oracle 9i still exist?

Hi,
Yes, you can boot on another workstation if it is the same hardware.

Yes, if you shut down oracle first you can make a copy of the disk (using dd or OmniBack rawdisk backup for example) and use the new disk as boot disk (and with Oracle intact).

Yes you can boot similer worksation if the H/W configuration is same,

If you got a tape drive you can use Ignite-UX to take an Image of your root disk and you can restore it to a different disk.

Please note that if your Oracle is tied to workstation's hardware via its software ID (SWID) then Oracle will not work on another workstation (but OS will)
