about hp-unix gateway
my hp server has two network cards,and two IP address.also two gateways.but if I down one of gateway. then I found the hp-unix think the corresponding IP address as down.Is it a bug?
(I send a package to the IP but I can't find the package returned,why?)

HP systems usually comes with 3 NIC's ETHER, TOKEN RING and another will be on board. practically we have to enable any one of these cards with IP,subnet. remember one IP address is to be assigned to all the NIC's and enabled one at a time.
In u r case since u have 2 IP's whenever u ping or telnet it creates confusion to which address it has to send the packets. disable any one card and do ping or telnet

Check with netstat -rn for your default gateway and the lan card it is associated with. If that card is put out of action, so is your default gateway.
