aCC issue on HPUX11.31
Hello,
We have C++ code running on HP-UX B.11.23 with HP aC++/ANSI C B3910B A.06.00.
Recently we have ported the code to a new HPUX server HP-UX B.11.31 U ia64 and has HP C/aC++ B3910B A.06.25.
When we are compiling the code on this new HPUX server we are getting lot of compilation prolems mainly as the earlier aCC version used to overlook them or might be 6.25 is not backward compatible.
The magnitude of these errors are very high and we do not want to do all these changes at this moment.
We have another HPUX machine HP-UX B.11.31 U ia64 and has HP C/aC++ B3910B A.06.20 bundled in it. The code compiles perfectly in this environment.
The question are:
1- what are the major differences between aCC version 6.20 and 6.25.
2- Can we install aCC 6.20 version on our new HPUX 11.31 server. If yes then where we can get the aCC version 6.20
3- Will installing aCC 6.20 on a 'HPUX 11.31 server with bundled aCC6.25 version' be safe and will there be no potential compatibility issues with any other OS libraries.
Thanks in advance.

Re: aCC issue on HPUX11.31
Shalom,
1- Differences are described in a file on the installation disk for aCC, which is on your applications DVD.
2- Yes, you would have to remove version 6.25
3- Yes, I believe it is safe but read the answer to #2.
To truly diagnose the problem, a sample of the compile errors would be needed. There may be problems with environment, especially variables that deal with paths to various libraries.

Re: aCC issue on HPUX11.31
Addendum: SHLIB_PATH variable is critical to this situation. Make sure it is the same on both systems and that the same libraries are present.

What are these errors?
>1- what are the major differences between aCC version A.06.20 and A.06.25.
Have you looked at the Release Notes?
http://h21007.www2.hp.com/portal/download/files/unprot/aCxx/B3901-90032.pdf
The major changes are C99 is the default for -Ae and cc and -AA is the default for aCC.
>2- Can we install aCC A.06.20 version on our new 11.31 server. If yes then where we can get the aCC version A.06.20
This is not supported and you probably can't get it.
>3- Will installing aCC A.06.20 on a '11.31 server with bundled A.06.25 version' be safe
What bundled A.06.25 version? cc_bundled(1) is very old.
>will there be no potential compatibility issues with any other OS libraries.
No.
