Re: Accidently VXVM disk formatted with pvcreate -f command

Once you give pvcreate -f everything will wash out from disk, to get back data from this type of case may some 3rd party tools will work.

If it's an important data and you donâ  t have backup copy of its, then better contact those persons who are expert to get data from damage disks and all

Dear Muneer,

Never use pvcreate -f command, in first go, run only pvcreate command, this practice will will avoid this type of mistakes.

I am not sure why have you opened a new thread for the same problem,
I did restore the header yesterday (although in SUN) successfully.
Do you have sm directory
ls -lrt /etc/vx/cbr/bk/

What is VxVM version.

Re: Accidently VXVM disk formatted with pvcreate -f command

And yes don play around with vxvm untill you are very sure of what you doing.
and DO NOT RUN
#vxdctl enable command else you would get IO error on your volume and everything would be gone.

As suggested earlier stop application (only apps) take full backup create dg again and restore.
Else follow the procedure given earlier (its just 30mnt task)
