Shalom,

No, you do not need to stop the cluster.

1) Present the storage to the system.
2) insf -C disk
3) ioscan -fnC disk

You should see it and be able to pvcreate it and configure it for use in the cluster.

Present the disk, means storage people or you as the administrator make the disk visible to the system via SAN utilities or similar tools.

Re: ADD A NEW STORAGE TO SERVICEGUARD A.11.16

HI, yes, you can add the storage with the cluster up ONLY if you add the storage with a new VG.

you MUST to down the cluster if add the storage with existent VGs.

Re: ADD A NEW STORAGE TO SERVICEGUARD A.11.16

Hi Chtisthian,

Just present the storage to both servers, run ioscan/insf to recognize the new luns.
After that add new luns into cluster volume group at 1st node, export in PREVIEW mode volume group.
Copy the map file on the second node, export group and import it again with the map file.

correction: do ioscan first, and after it you can go with insf.

Re: ADD A NEW STORAGE TO SERVICEGUARD A.11.16

Hi,

Thanks for your help, actually the Cluster have 2 Storages and mirror betwen 1 LUN of the first storage and 1 LUN of the second storage, the idea is remove in the MIRROR the LUN of the first storage and the add in the MIRROR 1 LUN of the NEW storage. In this case I think that is necesary stop the cluster and then reconfigure the Cluster with the new storage, it's correct this???...

Re: ADD A NEW STORAGE TO SERVICEGUARD A.11.16

Hi again,

No need to remove the mirror.
Just when extending logical volume be more careful.

Here is the scenario:

LVOL1 is mirrored over LUN1A and LUN1B from storages A and B.

When you add new storage - 100GB for example add 2 more LUNS - LUN2A and LUN2B from each storage. Each 100Gb.

During extending the logical volume check how much free space you have in the 1st two luns - LUN1A and LUN1B.
If you have 2 GB free in each first increase logical volume LVOL1 with these 2GB. After that use another 98GB from second luns.
Total you will increase it with 100GB. Command will be something like:

lvextend -L LVOL1 LUN1A LUN1B

After that use remaining space in LUN2A and LUN2B:

lvextend -L LVOL1 LUN2A LUN2B

This will extend your LVOL1 to newsize2= initial + 100GB in 2 steps.
When you use the lvextend directly like this:

lvextend -L LVOL1

you can create mirror copies of the PE from LUN1A to LUN2A which is at the same storage.

I hope it was clear enough :)

ivan

Re: ADD A NEW STORAGE TO SERVICEGUARD A.11.16

Hi Ivan,

Thanks for your help, I need remove the Storage because need format this Storage and use in another enviroment. I think that is necesary stop the cluster because I need remove the Storage in the 2 nodes and add the new Storage in the 2 nodes too because the new Storage is for production.

I think that I need reconfigure the Cluste with the new Storage???...
