add disk/tape to rp3440

Hi have a new rp3440, I attached a DLT tape to its external SCSI but ioscan doen not see it, then I shifted the 2nd internal disk to the empty SSCI slot (that should belong to the same SCSI channed of the ext SCSI) and ioscan does not see it also.
I shutdown a restarted the machine several times without any changes.
Any Idea?
thanks
Romano

Re: add disk/tape to rp3440

Hi Romano,

Can you attch a copy of the ioscan output for us to take a look.

ioscan -fn

Attach the output of this command.

Hope this helps.

Re: add disk/tape to rp3440

Make sure the scsi id of the DLT is not 0 (zero). That would be the same as the SCSCI card and would cause it to not work.

Try a different cable if everything seems good.

ioscan -fnC ext_bus

Re: add disk/tape to rp3440

Hi All,
SCSI ID: I tryed with different IDs
CABLE: It is ok, I use the same tape for another machine.

The base SCSI arcitecture of this machine foresee 4 SCSI "channel: divided in 2 controller; with referenco of the ioscan I attached, if you see internal disks c2t0d0 and c2t1d0 are connected to the same SCSI controller (/dev/rscsi/c1t7d0). If I connect c2t1d0 on the 2nd controller (/dev/rscsi/c2t7d0) it is not detected as well as the DLT It's seems that the SCSI controller in "disabled".

Thanks

Re: add disk/tape to rp3440

Hi romano

Why don't you check and install it by using SAM?
Go to SAM--->Kernal Configuration--->Drivers.
Then search for "tape" keyword.
As your system status, the Status field will be the "Out" status. Let change to "In" status and reboot the server.

Goodluck!

Re: add disk/tape to rp3440

Hi romano

Anyway, you have to make sure that the SCSI cable connection is correct! Check again the connection so far......

Re: add disk/tape to rp3440

After that you can install again all of the tape drive with the command:(only tape class)
#rm -f /dev/rmt/*
#insf -eC tape
