add new io resource; vparmodify
# vparmodify -p vparname -a io:1.0.8
I want to be able to see my SAN thru either of two single port hba cards. (ie. 2 paths to same lun) I can see the green lights are on the card and the fc switch ports also has lights on. The vpars i put a dual port hba card in all see the dual paths
# xpinfo -il
but don't see any disks thru that second single hba card. I believe XP512 zoning and fc switch configuration are all correct.
# vparstatus -v
root@pfreg37:/homeroot# vparstatus -v

Re: add new io resource; vparmodify
What does it show as when you run ioscan? Is it claimed and ok?
If so, do ioscan -H 1/0/8
If it comes back with nothing, then there is nothing presented down that path, so verify the zoning and XP configuration

Re: add new io resource; vparmodify
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
==================================================================
fc 0 1/0/2/1/0 td CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
/dev/td0
fc 4 1/0/8/1/0 td CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
/dev/td4
The /dev/td4 is the card i am trying to see the SAN thru...
# ioscan -H 1/0/8
H/W Path Class Description
===========================================
1/0/8 ba Local PCI-X Bus Adapter (783)
1/0/8/1/0 fc HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
So do I go back to the SAN config?
Thanks!

Re: add new io resource; vparmodify
Better check this again. Your server looks ok now ...
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: add new io resource; vparmodify
you have included the correct IO path and your card is recognized correctly
first of all check your interface status as root using /opt/fcms/bin/fcmsutil /dev/td4
if this shows a valid entry then get back to your storage to see if you modified correctly LUN masking according to the new wwn if your are using LUN masking or get back to your SAN to see fabric configuration

Re: add new io resource; vparmodify
# ioscan -fn
and now see (just grabbed a piece for example) something thru the 1/0/8 but not exactly what i see thru 1/0/2. Do I have to do another step?
disk 57 1/0/2/1/0.201.14.0.1.13.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP OPEN-E
/dev/dsk/c8t13d0 /dev/rdsk/c8t13d0
disk 58 1/0/2/1/0.201.14.0.1.13.1 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP OPEN-E
/dev/dsk/c8t13d1 /dev/rdsk/c8t13d1
disk 59 1/0/2/1/0.201.14.0.1.14.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP OPEN-E
/dev/dsk/c8t14d0 /dev/rdsk/c8t14d0
disk 60 1/0/2/1/0.201.14.0.1.15.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP OPEN-E
/dev/dsk/c8t15d0 /dev/rdsk/c8t15d0
disk 673 1/0/8/1/0.202.14.0.1.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP DISK-SUBSYSTEM
disk 674 1/0/8/1/0.202.14.0.1.1.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP DISK-SUBSYSTEM
disk 675 1/0/8/1/0.202.14.0.1.2.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP DISK-SUBSYSTEM
disk 676 1/0/8/1/0.202.14.0.1.3.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP DISK-SUBSYSTEM
I want to be able to see a dual paths but don't see them in the following...
# xpinfo -il
/dev/rdsk/c8t14d0 e8 0e 00 CL1B 00:f0 OPEN-E 00030207
/dev/rdsk/c8t15d0 e8 0f 00 CL1B 00:f8 OPEN-E 00030207
I would like to see two 00:f0, and two 00:f8 extra. One on the A fabric and one on B fabric. Not seeing the /dev/dsk names on the disks thru 1/0/8. Ideas?
Thanks!
