Added SCSI disk to 9000 Class A but can not see the disk

Hi
I have added a 146GB SCSI disk to A class 9000 HP server running HP-UX 11v1 via a dual port SCSI host bus adapter. I am able to see the adapter but can not see the new disk. Server has 1 internal disk with OS on it. Please post your suggestions about possibilities.

Have you rebooted, or run insf to create the device files? Are your SCSI interfaces terminated properly?

Shalom,

insf -C disk

ioscan -fnC disk

Try again.

Shalom again,

model command.

We work a lot with these systems and some of the earlier ones could not see very large disks.

Re: Added SCSI disk to 9000 Class A but can not see the disk

Things to check:

Is the HBA supported for this server and CLAIMED?
Is the bus terminated?

Hope this helps!

Re: Added SCSI disk to 9000 Class A but can not see the disk

Thanks for the inputs folks.
I have run insf command, rebooted server, SCSI interfaces are terminating properly.
Disk specs are:
Seagate brand
Cheetah 10K.7
Ultra U320 SCSI Drive
Model# ST373207LW
RPM: 10K
Serial# 3KT0QXGF

Disk is connects via dual port SCSI host bus adapter and I can see bus adapter but not the disk.

Am I missing any patch? Only scsi patch I saw on my server is PHKL 29365.

Never mind what you are telling us, please post the output of ioscan -fn. Also what is the exact model of your A-box; you may need a firmware upgrade but no one should pay any attention to you until the ioscan output is posted.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Added SCSI disk to 9000 Class A but can not see the disk

The disk you mention is not a 146GB disk.
Model# ST373207LW
ST = Seagate
First 3 = 3 inch size
73 = 73GB

What SCSI ID is the disk set to ?

BTW, don't be in such a hurry to close a thread!

(Since the forums provide no means of
communicating to other posters (outside a thread, AFAIK ...
you didn't assign points in the
"Do you know ftp location for
PF_CHAW4350.tar.gz?" thread!

Back to your SCSI disk ...

can you see it via a "SEA" (search) command
below the ISL prompt level? (That's a firmware implemented command.)
