Adding a log. vol.in a Service Guard Environment
While trying to add a logical volume to a Service Guard environment, it wont let me do it until I
"undistribute" the LV Group first.
Can I do this without causing the system to go
down, or halt production ?
(running HPUX - v11.i)

Re: Adding a log. vol.in a Service Guard Environment
Hello,
Huh? Are you getting this 'undistribute' message in response to a command you are running? Maybe you have some LVM striping going for you?
Normally you can add a logical volume in a MC/SG cluster without having to stop anything. My guess is that you are getting some kind of complaint from LVM.

actually, I am using SAM
to add the LV, so I know
I am not typing anything
incorrectly, and I dont have
any striping going on.

Re: Adding a log. vol.in a Service Guard Environment
Hi,
I did a search here using "undistribute", and I came up with a couple of similar threads:
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x9a37cbaac6dcd5118ff40090279cd0f9,00.html
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xd0687bb04b5cd611abdb0090277a778c,00.html
Maybe some of the other local wizards have an idea about 'distributed' logical volumes. I've never used it before.
JP
P.S. Sounds like something you might read about in the paper. "He was arrested and charged with possession of logical volumes with intent to distribute." :)
