Adding network interfaces on ServiceGuard cluster
Hi
I have got a 5 node cluster and need to add another node. In order for me to add this node I need to add two new vlan cards on my failover node. So my question: Is it possible to add these two new vlan cards to the running cluster or need I to shutdown the cluster and restart it.
Here my config for the failover node and a netstat from failover.

Re: Adding network interfaces on ServiceGuard cluster
There is a section titled "Reconfiguring a Cluster" in the Managing ServiceGuard manual which discloses in a clear tabular format what changes can be performed while the cluster is running:
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B3936-90065/B3936-90065.html
Adding/removing or changing LANs on a node currently listed in the cluster binary file is not one of the changes that can be performed online. Use cmviewconf to view the content of the binary quickly.
However, when it is necessary to keep the application packages running, savvy administrators may decide to remove the node to be updated from the cluster long enough to re-add it with the necessary changes. ServiceGuard allows a node to be removed from the NODE_NAME list in the package configuration file (and cmapplyconf'd of course) while the cluster is running - as long as that node is not running the package presently.
Hope this helps.

Re: Adding network interfaces on ServiceGuard cluster
The short answer is NO. You cannot add them without bringing down the cluster.
Here is a link to a certified document with step by step instructions for adding a standby lan to an existing cluster.
