Adding VA7100 or other HP array with HP9000 L class (RP5430)

We have HP9000 L class servers (RP5430) with one VA7100 fully populated disks (8*18gb and 7*70gb) with dual fiber channel controller.

We want to add one more new VA7100 with our HP9000 servers, we know that VA7100 and VA7400 and RPC5430 is retired product and not available from HP.

What is the best replacement storage array for VA7100.

Now my option is DS2500 or EVA6000 or XP10000
Will these new storage arrays works with HP9000 L class servers (RP5430).

Any help or ideas are appreciated.

Thanks
Mura

Hi,

These devices will work, but you cannot really compare them.

Your old VA7100 is an arry like the XP and the EVA, the DS2500 is just a JBOD - not an array. Both new arrays are much faster and bigger than your old array, so it depends on your needs.

Hope this helps!

Shalom Mura,

What you should get depends on flexibility needs and total storage requirements.

EVA-4000 or EVA-6000 has very large capacity and features such as snapshots and business copy that are very useful, but the investment is high.

XP class storage or MSA-1500 will work with HP-UX and costs less, but has less of the above features.

An MSA-1500 can handle 14 disks and can use additional MSA-30 units as additional disk shelves. It is a very cost effective way to go.
