Advanced Server printers

Hi all

we have just installed the trial version of advanced server. Whilst I can set up and share file systems with nt clients. I want to be able to use printers conected to nt clients. I can not see from the manual how this is done and have had a days frustration trying to do this. What I would like to acheive is print from the HP-UX to a printer on an nt client, and for an nt client to be able to print to another nt client. Am I asking to much :)

Re: Advanced Server printers

If you install Samba on your HPUX box the NT machines will see the HPUX box as another NT machine. You just share the printers out from the smb.conf file.
As far as shareing a printer from one nt box to another you need to setup shareing on the local machine. Then any machine can connect to it.

Hope this helps

Re: Advanced Server printers

Found this on Microsoft's web site.
SEARCH: "TCP/IP Printing" - Results Page 2,
# 15 - Overview of TCP/IP Printing
- click on TOC icon at top left corner of screen.

How to setup Windows NT printers to accept output from UNIX systems:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?URL=/library/winresource/dnwinnt/s7e87.htm

This link is specific to NT 3.51, however the procedure should be similar if not identical in NT 4.0. I undertand that the procedure and the add-on, are easier to use in Windows 2000. By the way, this is all documented in the Windows Resource Kits for your respective Windows NT version. Microsoft seems to only make available the NT 3.51 Res. Kit unless you have a subscription to the MSDN Library CD.

Hope this helps.
