All broadcast the net to hpux
Hello
All broadcast the net to send to hpux.
Net type: C
When i ping #.#.#.255 the response is my server hpux.
The traffic in this network interface is very high.
Is normal ?

You, you just sent a broadcast request to this subnet so all nodes on the subnet will try to respond. For this reason, broadcasts are not considered very polite network behavior except when of short duration.

if you ping the broadcast address and only listening box is this box itself, provided other hosts are not instructed to ignore ICMP packets, this is not normal. How can the server be the only one on the network and generate a high traffic ?
of course this is valid if the netmask of the interface is 255.255.255.0.
Make sure you have the port connected to the right VLAN. Talk to your network admins is my suggestion.
