My Samba servers are not refreshing thier WINS entries... One of you pointed out that this is a bug with the HP packaged Samba (CIFS/9000) and that a fix is coming? We do not see the same problems with our Solaris Samba 2.2.3 and 2.2.4...
Would a daily CRON restrating nmbd be a good workaround?
Help!

I also have the exact same problem. I'm going to perform a daily restart of nmbd using CRON. I'll let you know if this workaround works.

						Nelson,
I'm not sure if you read the answers to your question from the 18th June?
HP has an open item to find the root-cause and fix it. This is said to be fixed in Samba2.2.4.
Would you get me the following values of your WINS-server?
Renewal Interval
Extinction Interval
Extinction Timeout
Verify Interval
Pull Parameters,Initial Replication, Retry count
Push Parameters,Initial Replication
Push Parameters,Replicate on Address Change
These might be helpful for us to simulate the problem inhouse.
Thanks and Regards,
Raine

All the info that I could get from our NT foks is that everything on the WINS i set to 24 hours. I have tried halving Samba's "max ttl" to 12 hours.. same thing...
The CRON daily restart of NMBD does work.
