Since the drives are so new was wondering if this will be recognized. The o/s is patched up to the September 2006 level.
I'm guessing I may need the Hardware enablements patches from June2007 and possibly even the Ultra320 scsi driver update that came with that same DVD.
Any thoughts?

SolutionThe original install on that system is supposed to be September 2006, not something earlier plus patches.
I think you are right abou the June 2007 HWE however.
I mistook the raid card in one of those boxes for a scsi card, tried to hang an LTO3 drive on it and got no joy until I put a SCSI card in and connected the drive to it. The Raid card interface fit fine, but could not talk to the drive.
So you might want to make sure you aren't plugged into the RAID card.
Check the kernel for the stape driver, if its an hp drive. Different driver for an IBM tape drive. If the right driver is not in the kernel you'll need to recompile the kernel with the driver in it. That requires a reboot.
Then patch the box.

I am still on PHKL_33361 Cumulative kernel SCSI patch even after applying all the June 2007 patch bundles.
Thanks
