I have been trying and trying and trying, but I just can't seem to see your post - perhaps there are others who can't see it either. I did submit a trouble report to HP on this issue, but it seems that your posts are especially hard to get at. Not that I could help you, your highness, (joke) but what were you trying to post?

Re: ATT: Rick Garland
Many thanks! Seems I have been having trouble seeing my posts (on numerous occasions) and from the 0 responses received, it would seem that no one else can either. I have sent 2 messages for the trouble to HP but have yet to receive a response back except the auto-generated message. These messages to HP have been sent 6 days apart as well. I am beginning to wonder if my trouble tickets are going through. With no response, I would believe that they are not.
I am afraid to do any more posts because it appears that all of my posts get the SSI error. I have tried from home, work, LAN, modem, IE, Netscape, refresh, etc... to no avail.
Again, many thanks!
Rick

Re: ATT: Rick Garland
Rick, I too have been unable (due to SSI errors) to view any of your posts.
Mo, you're very gracious to submit a trouble report on behalf of this.
Rick & Tim, I too have met with a wall of silence compared to the great response I used to get. Up until perhaps three weeks ago, using the 'Contact HP' almost always got a human message of acknowledgement within 12-hours. My recent experience with email is the same as Tim?s. Although I have had software confirmation of the transmission, I have not received any reply to my submission. Both behaviors are quite aberrant for the ITRC.
Regards to all, Jim.

Re: ATT: Rick Garland
I've submitted the SSI error for both of your threads as soon as you posted the second one, and I guess that many of us have done the same.
It's a bit surprising that HP didn't react quicker to this fault report.
I suppose that the reason must be called Christmas as the activity on the forums has been really low these days.
Best regards
Dan

Re: ATT: Rick Garland
Most aggrevating since all of my posts are going SSI.
I am able to SEARCH but I have not found anything related to the original question. I am setting up secure web consoles on all of the systems but it would be nice to know if a system can be configured to boot without a console.
Again, my thanks to all for your time and assistance. If I could assign points on this thread...

Re: ATT: Rick Garland
I have recently installed 8 L-2000 with the secure web console. It's working OK, apart from a few cosmetic problems as both the vt100 and hp emulators are a bit 'flaky'.
This doesn't prevent systems from booting, it's only cosmetic.
Make sure you have the latest firmware revision (1.9 if I remember well), as this fixes a number of issues.
FYI, it's commonly agreed that the vt100 emulation is the one to choose, you'll simply miss the function keys.
Best regards,
Dan
PS: Although it's not really good practice, we had to boot systems a few times without any console attached. We had no problem but, once again if I remember well, I've read that D-Class systems didn't boot without console.

Re: ATT: Rick Garland
It appears thaht you have a major problem as no one seems to be able to read your posts.
I have contacted the two forum administrators via internal email, but they are currently on vacation due to the holiday season.
Once they return, I am sure they will try to contact you.
dumb question, but are you using just one browser, e.g. IE4? if so, have you tried another?
hope it gets fixed
Melvyn
Oh Yes, most system will boot fine without a console connected, we do it all the time.

Re: ATT: Rick Garland
Thanks for the help! It has really been a great feeling knowing that I can communicate (some what).
10 points to everyone who has replied thus far. They (and you) have been most helpful and I can't say thank you enough for the assistance, to everyone and especially to you Mo.

Re: ATT: Rick Garland
The bigger concern I would thing is how do intend to handle the info that normally is routed to the console device. Or worse yet, what if something happens during the boot that halts the process mid-sequence. I suppose you could attach a terminal for this occurance and then boot again, but this is probably a bit shakey too.
