Auto forwarding mail

Hi,

Can someone please help me solve this. How can i auto forward all mail sent to a user, to a remote smtp host??

Hi Kai,

easiest answer, create an alias for the user in the /etc/mail/aliases file.

root:unix@your_domain.com

example above will mail all local root mail to one mailaddress on the mail server.

Not sure if I that is what you need.
Create a file in user home directory called .forward and write a mail addres which you want the mail be forwarded.
# cat .forward
user2@domain2.com

Prepare .forward file in your HOME dir and put your email addresses in it. You can also define an aliases for dendmail. Check /etc/mail/aliases file.

You can try installing Procmail from Internet express suite, it does forwarding and many more.

Thnks this worked.

I used the .forward solution. After restart of sendmail. It works fine.
