Hi,
I would like to seek advices on whether we should use autosensing default of Procurve 4100 switch, or do manual configurations for 10b, 100b, 1000b ....ports connections.
It will connect to 100 PCs, 10 servers, including K and L servers (oracle stuff) and Internet server.
I remember someone recommend not to use autonegociate option on Unix server, which is why I need help here.
Any comments are very appreciated.
Steven

Solution
Hi Steven
I would prefer to do the following :
1. For Unix servers dont put to autosense , since we know the port properties , keep to the same as set to the lan Port type on teh server.
2. Same is true for NT servers too .
The logic is Server will have more traffic than the desktops and would waste much time and resorces for this feautre to work.
3. For desktops you can use dumb hubs , or smal switches depending on the $$$ you can spend but dosent really amtter if the feautre is enabled.
