bastille and x windows

i installed bastille for the first time.
after realising bastille -c doesn't work,
i run bastille in x windows.
A window comes up but the text on the right side has special characters! sam/xclock works ok so maybe theres a font im missing for bastille?

would apprciate any pointers to get this fixed.

Re: bastille and x windows

Shalom mcater,

Could be a font problem.

/sbin/init.d/xfs stop
/sbin/init.d/xfs start

Try again.

I don't know how to reinstall missing fonts. Bastille worked for me on a standard HP-UX 11i installation.

Re: bastille and x windows

Hello again,

At this point, I'd say part of your X windows environment is gone, missing or corrupted.

Look for corruption with Motif an X.

If thats fine, you still may want to reinstall.

I believe those items are available on Core OS and/or the Application CD's

Its also possible someone manually deleted the fonts.

You might look at the error message in the window you run bastille out of and see what fonts are missing. Locate them on another machine and copy them in to the machine with issues.

I suppose it could be a problem with the bastille installation and you may wish to reinstall that.

Re: bastille and x windows

You are probably using an Xwindow emulator on a PC such as Exceed or Reflection/X. Most of these tools make simple fonts available but have the option to load IBM or HP or Sun fonts so I would configure your emulator to add HP fonts to the configuration. Better yet, enable fontserver capability on HP-UX and then have your emulator ask for fonts from the HP-UX box.

Re: bastille and x windows

im running refelctions v.10 and have checked that all fonts are included.
All other xwindows programs run ok - its just bastille.
Im running version 11.00.

I will have to look at running the hp server as a font server as a work around.

Apologies for not assigning points - i am having trouble getting my password reset. I have had to create another user just to reply.
