beginner loading O/S 11i

I have a HP terminal connected to my HP9000 L class server and I am trying to load the 11i O/S. During the process the screen is very hard to read with lots of extra characters on the screen. What emuation mode should I set the HP terminal to? And how do I change it? Thanks for any advice..

Also, why does the server not allow the use of the Video card? I dont understand why I cant use a standard monitor and the video card to load the O/S from.

Is a terminal required to load the O/S?

What type of terminal is this, Dale? An HP 700/96 console, perhaps?
