big vg

Just wondering If I do a make_tape_recovery for all my vg what will happen if one DDS3 tape is not enough to archive everything. Will Ignite ux prompt for second tape?

Re: big vg

Yes, the later versions of make_tape_recovery can span multiple tapes. Its in the manpage.

Re: big vg

//*4-9 What is the maximum amount of data that a make_recovery tape can hold?

A make_recovery tape can hold as much data as will fit on the tape. If make_recovery is run in the foreground it will prompt for more tapes if they are necessary. NOTE: individual files may not exceed 2GB due to a limitation in the pax command.*//

The same applies to make_tape_recovery.

Re: big vg

//* The make_tape_recovery tool creates a system recovery archive and
stores the archive on a local tape. make_tape_recovery is capable of
creating system recovery tapes for all DDS and DLT tape devices, with
the ability to span multiple tapes. *//
