BIND 9 on HP-UX 11-11 (11i)

I just read on

that BIND 9.2.2 in not supported on HP-UX 11.11 (11i)

"HP-UX 11.11 is not yet supported due to its incompatible SIOCGLIFCONF ioctl"

Should I go with the version BIND 8.3.4
Is this version as good as 9.2.2 ?

bind 8.3.4 is 0.8.8 times worse than 9.2.2 !

HP does not support the latest bleeding edge release of anything.

They take their time and test things heavily before providing depot files to their users.

If there is a security problem requiring fast action, they'll provide binaries.

BIND 9.2.x is supported.

You can get 9.2.0 for 11.11 from HP. Versions 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 (the latest) are maintenance release for 9.2.0. They contain minor bug fixes but no new features over 9.2.0. I have compiled/installed 9.2.2 on 11.11 and had no problems but 9.2.0 is a "safe" bet and is a much better BIND that 8.X.

8.3.4 has the requisite source mods for the stock ISC bind to compile on 11.11. I forget when along the 9.2.X stream they went-in - perhaps it was 9.2.2, perhaps it will be 9.3.0, but I don't think it was 9.2.0. (could be wrong - just try to compile and see what happens)

It is also possible to compile on 11.0 and run the resulting binary on 11.11 if you wish.
