I had downloaded BIND from the software depot of hp but i got DNSUPGRADE_C.9.3.2.4.0_HP-UX_B.11.23_IA_PA.depot. Can i apply this in a fresh server in which no prior version of BIND is found using the swlist command.
Is it the correct way to install BIND also the documentataion tells that i need to do the below steps
NOTE: Ensure that the DNSUPGRADE.PHNE_33766 product or the DNSUPGRADE.PHNE_34226 product is installed before installing the DNSUPGRADE.BindUpgrade product. If you have installed the PHNE_33766 or PHNE_34226 patch or any of its superseding patches, you need not install the DNSUPGRADE.PHNE_33766 or DNSUPGRADE.PHNE_34226 product.
Is it applicable for me.what should i do first to install BIND in this server
Please help......

SolutionThis is an upgrade. As you do not have bind installed, you must make a clean install.
See the documentation at:
http://docs.hp.com/en/5900-0161/ch01s05.html
You can find here the direct link for downloading version 9.3.2(or 9.0):
https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/try.do?productNumber=BIND
Best regards,

Re: BIND installation.
so you must Install "Standard BIND" software depot has per the documentation,
than on top of that you need to Ugrade /update with latest version which you currently downloaded.
As per you current upgrade download "pre-request" its "BindUpgrade product" should exist that's the basic concept.
Hope this will give you clear "Understanding"

Re: BIND installation.
This "basic BIND" is not listed as a separate item in swlist, at least not with the default product-level listing. You may have to drill down to the fileset level to see it. ("swlist -l fileset" on the command line)
Yes, you can install the DNSUPGRADE*.depot even into a fresh server. It's an upgrade in the sense of "improvement over the standard installation".
