boot disk mirror

Hi Gurus..
I am mirroring a boot disk (rx2600/11.23).
Which one of the following steps shall I use:

# mkboot -a "boot vmunix -lq" /dev/rdsk/
OR
#echo "boot vmunix -lq" > ./AUTO
# efi_cp -d /dev/rdsk/ ./AUTO /efi/hpux/auto

Are these equivalent?

Appreciate your suggestions..
