boot error
During boot machine, the detail message from A500 server booting is attached below:

SYSTEM NAME:a500
DATE:01/09/2003 TIME:15:14:37
ALERT LEVEL:15 =Fatal hardware or configuration problem prevents operation
REASON FOR ALERT
SPURCE: 8 = I/O
SOURCE DETAIL : 6=disk SOURCE ID :0
PROBLEM DETAIL : 3=functional failure
LEDs: RUN ATTENTION FAULT REMOTE POWER
FLASH FLASH ON ON ON
LED State: Boot Failed. Running non-OS code. Non-critical error detected.
Check Chassis and Console Logs for error messages.

This message is displayed after server booted from it's self. If I boot from the HP-UX 11.0 CD, the error message is
"memory full"

Have a close look at the scsi devices and see what is on ID 0. It looks like either the device on ID 0 is gone bad or see if the terminator is connected in this bus.
And then try booting up.

See if there any messages relating to this in /var/opt/resmon/log/event.log
This is the log that 'EMS' uses.
Looking at the message, it seems that there is either a disk or SCSI problem. You could also use the 'stm' tools to run exercises on your hardware.

Your A500 can not boot from this disk. Try the following:
- check is 'sea' PDC command sees disk. If not - replace disk;
- install from scratch from Core OS CD;
- if it will give you an error call HP and replace this disk.
If you have mirror for this disk you can boot from mirror copy with no quorum
hpux -lq
