Boot Fails on "Strat diagnostic subsystem"

When I boot the D-370/HP-UX-10.20 system, it hangs on the "start diagnostic subsystem" process. Any idea what I should look for and how do I get past that step to check the system? If I break out of the boot process, I lose the console port and can't talk to the box at all.

Re: Boot Fails on "Strat diagnostic subsystem"

Thomas .. there is a decent chance that this is a bad disk or other piece of HW.

I would suggest powering down your CPU.
Next, power down all your non-array disks on the box.
Powering up all your non-array disks on the box.
Powering up the CPU.

This may cause a disk that is not working but still trying to work to stop trying to work and allow your system to come up.

It also could be that a disk got out of sync on the way down and this will clear it.

Finally, if you are still stuck in this after the power cycle sequence above, check for disk lights during the hang.

You may need to open a HW call for one of them.
