BOOT FAILURE (WARN A008) DUE TO POWER OFF WITHOUT SHUTDOWN

Yesterday, I intentionally power off the HP9000 unix and as a sequence, I cannot restart. It cannot boot at primary device because it show up message "Fail Initialization" and show only main menu screen. The error message is WARN A0008 CPU0 on the front panel. Do you have any ways to solve this ?

WARN A008 means: No bootable device found

either your bootpath is wrong or your root disk is dead. Do you see the disk still afer a search from main menu?
There is no good troubleshooting with bad data

Patrick is on the money, if youve powered down your server did you power down then up your disk subsystem also ? try it, then do a search and heopfully your boot device will show up.

That doesn't sound good. Do you have just one path with disks, or different pathes? And is your bootdisk the only one on the SCSI bus?
Nothing? not even the LAN interface?

If search doesnt show your boot device then you have a hardware problem. Either the SCSI card on the HP, or the SCSI cable (check the cable is nice and tight both ends) or the SCSI card on your disk subsystem (unless its an internal disk?) or the disk itself is faulty. Only thing left to try is powerdown the server+disks, powerup the disks, then the server. If search doesnt see the disks then you will have to call an HP engineer.
