Re: Booting Clients from Ignite UX Server
I've not checked the documentation on version 5 so I can't say this definitively.
But you might try the boot off the built in LAN card.
To monitor the situation on the server during the boot:
tail -f /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
in another window:
ps -ef | grep boot
you will see a process open when you try and boot.
There is a process for swcopy to copy the OS onto the Ignite Server. Did you follow this cookbook?

Re: Booting Clients from Ignite UX Server
did you already have a look at the Ignite Admin Guide? For 'newer' Ignite versions you should have a look at the 'Ignite-UX B.4.3.x PA-RISC/Itanium-based Server Setup' section:
http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/onlinedocs.py?mpn=B2355-90834&service=hpux&path=00/00/20&title=Ignite-UX%20Administration%20Guide,%20Edition%2015
Best regards...
Dietmar.

Re: Booting Clients from Ignite UX Server
FYI
When i try to boot new server with OS DVD (B.11.23) and then tried using Ignite server giving following details:
1. Ip Add of Ognite server
2. Subnet mask
3. IP for Host
4. Gateway IP
5. DNS ip
Installation went on smooth and it was able to find the server. But i am not getting it thr' lan boot option. I don't want to use OS CD at all.
Thanks

Re: Booting Clients from Ignite UX Server
Thanks for your time and support. I was able to solve my problem by correcting certain configuration issues. I configured instl_bootd, /etc/bootptab ( did not use dhcptab), used fixed addresses and MAC's of Ignite Clients and was able to boot thr' network.
I am using :
B5725AA B.5.0.35 HP-UX (Ignite-UX)
Ignite-IA-11-23 B.5.0.35
Regards,
Bharat
