Re: booting Xterminals through nfs server
make sure /opt/hpxt is exported anon
exportfs -av
You also need to install enware2 for 11.00
You're probably best off running the xtadm script and setting it up again:
because your /etc/bootptab probably does not have the terminals entry anymore specifying their boot file ip address and nfs root.
This is all asuming your file server hostname and ip has not changed.
can you telnet your file server from the telnet option of the xterm (press space to stop the boot and click the telnet icon)
Does the xterm config still live in
/etc/hpxt/enware2/xthome/xonfig
does swlist -l product show the xterm software installed?
Does the xserver come up?
What's in the xterm > F12> log
Is the tftp service enabled?

Re: booting Xterminals through nfs server
ncd thinclients
I have no idea..
I suppose you can use the same tactic:
ensure their nfs root is
exported and that the software doesn't need an upgrade also.
Nod sure if the ncds use bootp to get their initial ip or if it's flash saved, but check your /etc/bootptab
Later,
Bill

Re: booting Xterminals through nfs server
NCD terminals uses a software called NCDWare that uses nfs to exort boot and configuration files to NCD terminals.
the problem with hp-ux 11.00 upgrade is that the terminals cannot contact the hp-ux server through nfs any more

Re: booting Xterminals through nfs server
yet..
make sure that the NFSServer is running:
pereal:root> /sbin/init.d/nfs.server start
starting NFS SERVER networking
starting up the rpcbind daemon
rpcbind already started, using pid: 592
Reading in /etc/exports
starting up the mount daemon
rpc.mountd already started, using pid: 1187
starting up the NFS daemons
nfsd(s) already started, using pid(s): 1204 1203 1205 1202
starting up the Status Monitor daemon
rpc.statd already started, using pid: 628
starting up the Lock Manager daemon
rpc.lockd already started, using pid: 634
pereal:root> cat /etc/exports
/var/opt/ignite -anon=2
pereal:root> exportfs -av
re-exported /var/opt/ignite

Re: booting Xterminals through nfs server
First thing I'd do would be to :
reset the xterminal to factory defaults :
BOOT>NVF
then enter the ip address, subnet mask details etc at the BOOT> prompt again. (see the help section)
save them ->
BOOT>nvs
then attempt to boot the box
BOOT>boot
You'll also need to make sure /opt is exported in /etc/exports (or whatever dir you installed the tekxp s/w into).
If you still have problems do you see any errors on the xterminal ?
try an alternate boot method ie tftp ? see the BMethod options and also try sefltest and other options available if you interupt the boot using ctrl alt delete and then type help
