bpcd cannot be started
194 % /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpcd -standalone
bind(13782) failed: 226
root@arcsidc2:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin
195 %
in /etc/inetd.conf entry is following
bpcd stream tcp nowait root /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpcd bpcd
checked the port in /etc/services
please help me out

netbackup requires good /etc/hosts networking to work right.
You have checked /etc/services and inetd.
Try this:
restart inetd
Check what the error code bind(13782) failed: 226 means with netbackup.

[EADDRINUSE] Address already in use. Only one usage of each address
is normally permitted.
could this be down to another process using the port ? Perhaps use lsof to check see http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=805952
