Building a Bastion Server on 11i

Greetings to all.

I am currently running a Bastion server on HP-UX 11. My question is, is there any documentation that has detailed step by step on how to build a Bastion Server on HP-UX 11i v1?

I have searched but not found anything.

Any help would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Building a Bastion Server on 11i

Alex,

You can find it here: http://www.windowsecurity.com/whitepaper/unix_security/Building_a_Bastion_Host_Using_HPUX_11.html or if you prefer to not go to a site that has the name "windows" in it's url, and you have access to the technical knowledge base on the ITRC, look up document ID#USECKBAN00000800. The 2 documents are the same. It's a little older, but still completely relevant.

It can also be found in the HPUX CSE Study Guide and Desk Reference book.

Hope it helps

Hi Alex,

HP-UX Bastille is a security hardening/lockdown tool which can be used to enhance the security of the HP-UX operating system. It provides customized lockdown on a system by system basis, addressing a large number of the recommendations from a number of popular security scanning tools and checklists. The tool is free but you must register to download the depot.Download and insallation guide Bastille from below link.

Shalom Alex,

I believe Bastion is possible on any HP-UX release above 11. The newer the HP-UX the more tools you have.

Bastille, which requires PERL5 is a must, but both tools are free from http://software.hp.com
