does anyone have experienced building an install cdrom as describe in ignite adm guide ?
I have troubles : I do succeed to create an image (many wrong indications in the doc !! bad quality system;-) ), but how to copy this image on a cdrom ?
I ve tried but it's just like a file and when I reboot on the CD path i get No valid LIF....

Re: Building an install CDROM wih ignite

Hi,

IIRC then the whole trick was to use a 2048 byte/block file system!
And my "Nero" is burning that image just fine (Adaptec Easy CD does not, though)...

Question 7 on the above doc.

The answer to that is make_medialif. make_medialif creates a bootable LIF image. This image can be copied to either a DDS tape or a writable CD to create an Ignite-UX install media normally, but in your case you could use it to include your executable. You will need to install the ignite software to access it.

To create a boot LIF image using the config file
/home/root/myconfig and placing it in
/home/root/uxinstlf.

make_medialif -f /home/root/myconfig -l /home/root/uxinstlf

Then using a CD writing utility, transfer
/home/root/uxinstlf to a writable CD in raw mode. The resulting CD will be bootable.
The image can be transferred to a raw disk and a system booted from that disk to test out the image before committing it to CD.

See the man page for more details.

I didn't write any of this.
