Is there anyway to increase the max allowed Bus instances on a Dome ?
After the System is Ready, the console messages appear below:
fcparray_init unsuccessful. Bus Instance number 260 exceeded the maximum allowed (255).
wsio_claim init failed isc=0x79c53400 name=fcparray
fcpdev_init unsuccessful. Bus Instance number 261 exceeded the maximum allowed (255).
wsio_claim init failed isc=0x79c53400 name=fcpdev
fcparray_init unsuccessful. Bus Instance number 258 exceeded the maximum allowed (255).

Re: Bus Instance number 260 exceeded the maximum allowed (255).
Hmmm, I am disspointed to hear you actually ran into this problem the hard way. I would like to think that EMC had worked with you to design the storage such that this well known restriction would not become an issue.
You'll need to open a serious support call with EMC and/or HP to work through this issue. The 255 limit is for real and will not be fixed overnight.
You are already using securepath? If not, that should probably be your first approach.
The problem is often caused by an 'explosion' of potential path to storage when mutliple HBA's are connected to (interconnected) fibre switches, connected to the IO controllers.
With a bit of luck you can reduce visibillity while still retaining redundancy in availabilty by 'cutting' some fibre connections. Possible ways to achieve this is 'zoning' on a fibre switches, deploying multiple smaller switches, removing ISLs,...
Good luck!

Re: Bus Instance number 260 exceeded the maximum allowed (255).
It would appear that your LUN storage situation needs to be re-worked.
That limit can not be overcome. I'm kind of shocked the EMC array configuration tools let someone do that.
Maybe its a bug in the configuration program.
