Can a boot tape be created from an ignite make_net_recovery file ?
The upgrade failed (exec format error) and I want to recover. But (of course) the failing system now does not recognise the NFS-mounted file system. So I cannot access the recovery file.
How should I proceed ??
I could copy the remote recovery file to tape and boot from that - but what utility should I use to write the boot file to tape ??

Re: Can a boot tape be created from an ignite make_net_recovery file ?
If you have the operating system CD-ROM you can boot from that. It will give you three options, one of which is a network recovery.

Re: Can a boot tape be created from an ignite make_net_recovery file ?
I interrupt the re-boot to boot from the O/S CD. It gives me three options (as you indicated it would), I choose 'Run Recovery Shell' and then choose to 'Startup Network' (which seems to work OK).
I am then presented with 5 options (search, reboot, load, recover unbootable system, exit). Choosing 'search' or 'load' gives a list of local root files but does not give those on the remote file system.
What am I missing ??

Check the document below (docID : KBAN00000003) about 'Creating a System Recovery Tape with a make_net_recovery Archive' :
http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000080361130
Hope this information can help you.
Cheers,
