Can auto_direct be named something else

In the auto_master file the direct map is indicated by the /- followed by the name of the direct map auto_direct.

/- auto_direct

Since it's indicated by the /- can you name the direct map something else, maybe auto.direct or autodirect or direct??
Thanks

Re: Can auto_direct be named something else

Greg,

In theory there is no problem doing this, although most people in practice don't. I have seen on other platforms multiple auto_direct files - ie

/ - /etc/auto_direct_1
/ - /etc/auto_direct_2

So I assume HP-UX will not complain.

Hope it helps,

Paul.

Re: Can auto_direct be named something else

auto_direct be named as anything. There is no problem. Even auto_master doesn't have to be with it's default name. You can change it in /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf to assign AUTO_MASTER to somethingelse.
