Can perf logs be imported and read on another system

I have perf logs from a L2000,They were collected on a trial version of Measureware.

They trial ran out before I could get them read. Can I copy the logs to another system with Measureware and read those logs???
Thanks Mike

Re: Can perf logs be imported and read on another system

Mike,

It'd be a good idea to pose this to the Performance management query board -

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/CategoryHome/1,,166,00.html

I tried this much -

tarred up the /var/opt/perf/datafiles/log* files into a tar ball and transported these to a different machine.

thereafter i ran extract utility and exported summary disk records to an ascii file - this generated about 1812 records of data.

On the new machine, where the logs have been placed, i stopped mwa and then replaced one of the files logdev in /var/opt/perf/datafiles, with the logdev file from the old machine.

i extracted thereafter disk summary records and it exported only about 627 records which is not in any way close to what the other machine provided.

Either my testing method is wrong or you cannot read the files after placing them on another node.

Let me know how this goes.

Re: Can perf logs be imported and read on another system

I've done this with the response center using ftp binary mode and perfview. I don't see why extract wouldn't work.

Those logs, logglob, logdev, et al. are binary until formatted with extract or perfview.
