Re: Can't login from CDE
Check the ERRORS and WARNING that are the output.
Is the DISPLAY set correctly? Are you able to resolve this host? Do the nslookup and see if that comes back clean. Need to be able to resolve correctly for CDE to function. Are you using DNS of the hosts file?
Start with the dr_dt and go from there.

Re: Can't login from CDE
WARNING: /usr/dt/bin/xmbind does not exist. It needs
to be on the system in order for HP CDE to run properly.
There may have been a problem at installation. You
can either reinstall HP CDE or get a copy of the file
from another compatible system.

I don't have another HP. But how to reinstall HP CDE?

Re: Can't login from CDE
Is this correct?
Be aware that NIS stores the .dt files wherever the default user HOME directory is.
root is stired on each station IF, toy make the stationa CLIENT AFTER you build the NIS .
You to to export the HOME directory from the NIS Server IF, you want to have ONE point of entrance to the system.
You also need to change /etc/group and /etc/passwd last lines AFTER the root entry.
