I'm having trouble setting this printer up. From their documentation all I need is to:
1) add the IP into the host table
2) In the file or utility used by our network, specifiy the remote printer name, the print server protocol, the queue, and the spool file for the ColorPASS name you assigned.
3) Make the ColorPASS available as a printer to other network users.
I'm not sure what to do in steps 2 and three.
Please consult on printer set up.
Thanks,
..Joe

Re: Cannon ColorPASS 5000 Printer set up
I'm probably going out on a limb on this one...
Just placing an IP in a hosts file won't buy it. The device has to be assigned the IP and then printing utility/spooler your using has to be able to pass it via your network to that device.
...You can use JetAdmin and add this printer with it's IP address or you could enter it as a remote printer via SAM, etc. Make sure whatever you name it is the same as the name you assigned in your /etc/hosts file. Then make sure this entry is in all your /etc/hosts file for all systems that will use this printer.
My question back to you is this:
Did you use some sort of Canon utility to set the IP on the printer?..or did you manually configure the IP on the printer via the printer menu configuration?
Just a thought,
/rcw

Re: Cannon ColorPASS 5000 Printer set up
We manually configured the IP. When using jetadmin, it won't recognize the IP address, even though it is etc/hosts file. Also, outside of jetadmin, I can ping it just fine.
